Marisa Purcell’s painting is a contemplation of light and colour and the varying and sometimes simultaneous perceptions we are capable of.
Veils of transparent colour react to each other, supported by the texture of linen. Colour applied in this way has a saturating affect, one that belies explanation.
Her paintings are intended as an opportunity to feel and connect, rekindling an awareness of the most essential aspects of our being.
For the past 20 years Marisa Purcell has produced nearly 30 solo exhibitions of paintings in both Australia and internationally. She is represented by Olsen Contemporary in Sydney.
